As a general rule after a good sale week comes a crappy sale week.  Oh well, that’s what the freezer is for!  Oh, and at some point our Sunflower is going to become a Sprouts so sales have been pretty much identical recently.

Safeway:

  • 7-Bone Chuck Roast – $1.99/lb (lowest all year)
  • Bone in chicken breast – $.99/lb
  • Milk – $1.97/gallon
  • Coke – Buy 2 get 2
  • Strawberries – $1.99/16 oz.
  • Ball Park Hot Dogs – BOGO
  • Thomas’ English Muffins – BOGO

King Soopers:

  • Strawberries – $1.99/16 oz (or $4.99/4 lb)
  • Chicken Drumsticks or Thighs – $.99/lb
  • Milk – 1/2 gallon $1
  • Ball Park Franks – 2/$4
  • Wheat Thins/Triscuits – 2/$4
  • King Sooper’s Butter – 2/$5
  • Kroger buns (burger/hot dog) – $1

Sunflower:

  • Roasted almonds – $3.99/lb
  • Avocado’s – 3/$1
  • Broccoli or red bell peppers – $.88
  • Chicken tenders – $1.99/lb
  • Handmade chicken or pork sausages – $2.99/lb
  • Northwest Cherries – $1.99/lb

Sprouts:

  • Avocados – 3/$1
  • Northwest Cherries – $1.79/lb
  • Yellow squash or zucchini – $.99/lb
  • Green bell peppers – 2/$1
  • Chicken tenders – $1.99/lb
  • Handmade chicken or pork sausages – $2.99/lb

My Meal Plan:

  1.  Pot roast — ok, I’m kidding.  But I’m going to buy the crap out of that roast and food saver that.  No way I’m turning on the oven for 3 hours in this weather.
  2. Goat Cheese and Basil Chicken Breast – I have this Ina Garten favorite that’s SUPER easy and I have leftover goat cheese (from those burgers).  That’s savings, baby.
  3. Grilled Chicken Drumsticks – the best BBQ chicken is grilled for char and then actually baked to cook the sauce (without lighting it on fire) and cooking  it through.
  4. Chicken Fingers – I have a basic fried chicken strips recipe with the crust made of saltine crackers.  Yum.  Fried chicken.
