My Meal Plan:

This is largely still tbd BUT here’s what I’m thinking:

  1. Steak – either NY Strip or Ribeye for grilling.  These aren’t stock up your freezer prices, but they’re close.
  2. Hot Dogs – I like nicer hot dogs, and they freeze INCREDIBLY well so I’ll probably buy some to eat and some to freeze.  Nothing says summer like a plump hot dog on a cheap white bread bun.
  3. Ground Chuck – I’ll definitely buy this for burgers and for freezer.  Ground meat stores pretty well and defrosts nicely.  Some fancy hamburgers with goat cheese maybe?
  4. Grilled chicken legs — grilled and maybe finished off in the oven I could easily slather these in BBQ sauce or even a nice jalapeno pineapple salsa since that’s on sale…
  5. Sweet corn — everyone’s got that on sale, so I’ll obviously be grilling some.  I might grill extra one night and pull it off just before done.  When it’s cool you can slice it and add it to TONS of fun salads. Like black bean and diced tomatoes, or a little cotija (or feta) cheese and some avocado.  Or on grill pizza.  Mmmmm.  Grill pizza…
I have a feeling actual recipe planning is going to be slow this week and next as I get all of the things for the site finished.  I’ll cook, sure, but it won’t be anything super exciting — but there’s nothing wrong with the basics, right?

Lauren, I love your site!! So glad you’ve started this blog. I love the weekly sales posts, I’ve looked and searched for weekly sales blogs for Colorado before and I haven’t found one, you’re the first! Go you!! I’ll def be following you in my Google reader. I don’t know if that will count as a “follower” but I’ll be following :)

One note, at the end of the slideshow it doesn’t give me an “x” to exit and it won’t let me click outside of the picture to exit. The only way I was able to close the pictures was by clicking the esc key. Maybe it’s a Mac issue?

Yeah…I don’t love this image loader but it was the best one I could find. If you click on the actual picture (and when you hover I think it tells you) the whole java script should close. Maybe I should add that line to every caption? Or as a disclaimer above? Blah.
